Is it just me, or does there seem to be an abundance of insects this year?
I’ve never seen so many spiders at one time! They’ve just been covering my porch and all the nooks and crannies. We take a cobweb down and another comes up the next day…
Seriously made me wish for a macro lens!
This particular Saturday, my mom, the girl and I were running around town visiting a few stores. The morning of, the girl broke out in a rash on her hand. At the time I washed it, but some hydrocort cream on it and it went away within a few minutes.
Three hours later, though, after the shopping excursion, we made one more stop. By that time the girl was asleep… an hour ahead of her naptime. I planned to simply carry her through the store, but when I started unbuckling her from the seat, I noticed she had a serious rash going up her arm and starting to appear on her leg.
I called the husband and told him we were on our way to Children’s Hospital.
Long story short – all the girl had was a case of hives. First time parents run to the hospital… so our friend’s laughed at us the rest of the day. They simply would have given the kid a bath, some Benadryl and waited a day.
Lesson learned. 😉
I took the hubby to the Yellow Daisy Festival for his birthday again this year and we picked up some new signs for the house. Unfortunately, we don’t have our walls ready for new signs yet.
His actual birthday was the following day. Donuts aren’t his favorite thing, but due to a quick change of plans, it’s how we started the day. I should have just gone with our usual bagels…
We cleaned up another one of the Lego Friend’s sets and so now our Friends have friends. 🙂
For September 11th, the girl’s school asked everyone to wear red, white and blue. She came home with her version of an American flag, which I absolutely loved.
The night before our anniversary, I found myself finishing the last bit of my anniversary present to my honey. It worked out well anyhow, since I had insomnia at the time…
And again… more photos to come…

This is our first year in out new place, so I don't know what the spiders were like before, but there is seriously tons of them on our back porch!

Makes you feel like you'll be ready for the Halloween decorations, right? Who needs fake spider webs!

These are wonderful! You may have a lot of spiders, but we've been having an influx of geckos! Maybe I should ship some of my geckos to you to eat your spiders! ;) Those signs are beautiful - I hope your walls are prepped soon! Your daughter's American Flag is WONDERFUL! I love it!!

I would take geckos hands down any day against a spider! The only reason I've tolerated them so much is because they: a) stay out of the way and b) eat any other creepy-crawlies in the house.
When they dare make their home across my entryway... then we got problems!

omg... i thought the same exact thing about the spiders this morning!! we had random spider webs floating through the air all over our town this morning... such a weird thing to see... apparently the spiders swing from tree to tree and count on the wind to take them to the next tree. well... apparently there was little wind to take them to the next tree and it left their web floating in the air!!! so bizarre... but, anyway, i thought the same thing about needing a macro lens for just these moments! ha!

Ugh! And that's such the yuckiest feeling ever to walk through a web, 'cause then it leaves you feeling like you have a spider hanging off of you and any little thing that scrapes your skin sets you off a-jumping!
Although, it would have been pretty cool to see all those webs spread across they way you mention it. Just the right light... excellent photo opp! ;)

I really love that shot of your daughter's flag. I love the one of her face but I also love the cropped version in your masthead. I enjoyed reading about your week as well.

Thanks Catherine! Unfortunately, I can't take credit for the crop in the masthead. I just let it do what it does and that's how it turned out. It's nice regardless, right?
Thank you for visiting!

I really like how you capture your week :) I love your daugher's flag picture, as well :) We haven't had too many spiders in the northeast this year - we usually have several make homes in the corners of our deck but not this year. I was actually looking forward to it because I finally have a macro lens - ha ha!

Thanks Kellie! Sounds like you'll have to do a little early morning scouting, before they pare back their webs for the day. ;)
