{222/365} A donut outing

Seems like I’m doing an excellent job playing catchup in posting my 365 project photos. Vacation and my birthday took me off track. Hence the multiple posts this week.

I’m really looking forward to catching up, because as you read this, I am on my way to Dragon Con. A major photo-op convention of cosplay, geek & sundry. You know I’m excited to snap away!

We’re taking our little SuperGirl with us today, to see how she does with crowds. Since we’re not meeting any of our friends until Saturday, we figure we’ll pop in, get our weekend tickets and then walk around a bit.

I suspect we’ll be done within an hour or two with her, but that’s fine. The main purpose is to get our tickets before tomorrow morning’s parade and massive ticket line. Bringing the girl out for some fun… in her SuperGirl shirt, with cape, is just an added perk.

One of our local donut shops, Dutch Monkey Donuts, competed in the Doughnut Showdown show this month. Out of all the donuts they made that episode, one called my name: Passionfruit Coconut Lime Bismark. Let me just say this gem was Oh. So. Good.

After our visit to the LEGOLAND Discovery Center, the hubby and I were left with a feverish Lego obsession. We’ve spent hours scouring Craigslist in search of Lego blocks on the cheap.

Rummaging in our garage, he managed to find not one, but TWO boxes of Legos he purchased during our honeymoon. (That is literally 15 years ago… and yes, we’ve been dragging them around EVERYWHERE… but now I’m glad we kept them.)

Suffice to say, we were super excited… and so was the girl!

We couldn’t get enough of playing with Legos, so we picked up a small Lego Friends set for the girl. (Let’s pretend it’s for the girl.)

It came with this super cute itty-bitty camera! You know it was meant for us.

Fiona loved the set we purchased. And since we were still searching Craigslist for Legos, the hubby decided to check for Lego Friends listings. Would you believe we found only one listing…

One AWESOME listing.

$45 for 12 Lego Friends sets. (If you know anything about Legos, you know that one large set – and this listing had four – costs around $35-45.)

Score!

So I went and picked them up as quickly as possible and while she slept, we sat down to separate and bag all the Legos according to their set. We have “presents” for months!

Lastly, school started again. This year, the girl’s teacher is her assistant teacher from last year. Most of the kids in the classroom are from last year’s class which makes things so much easier and familiar for her. She loves school and as her teacher says, is always happy and always has a great day.

That’s my girl!

We haven't done legos yet - just megablocks but I can totally see the draw. We've had fun making towers and bridges with them :) I'm sure its just a matter of time before the legos start appearing :) Love that first shot of your supergirl and that donut looks heavenly! Reply

Our Mega Bloks were great for a bit, too, but she seemed to be out-growing them quickly as she asked us to make more complex things... instead of going the next step we just made the whole jump! It helps she doesn't want to eat them, too. Heehee Reply

Ahhhhh Legos! The toys I hate to love! Looks like your little girl is well stocked now!! Hopefully none of the pieces end up catching the bottom of your foot, as they do in my house!

We're pretty militant about her only playing with her Legos on the table we made her. Fortunately, she complies! :) I'll be really bummed the day I find out we lost a kit piece. :/ Reply
