Project 365 {Day 18 – 24}

I’m not sure why I’m trying to fight it. The girl *is* my main subject. I should just embrace photographing her on a daily basis.

Thank you all for your help with the watermark question last Project 365 post! I made a new one this week, but now I think it’s too light.

Feeling a little like Goldilocks… looking for my “just right”.

Took 4 of my 7 photos this week late at night. I hope it’s not a trend developing as I don’t like the “stress” of last minute photos looming over my head.

Sometimes it’s unavoidable, as I get so busy with work and keeping the girl on schedule, I just don’t have time to stop and “photograph the roses”. I’ve considered scheduling photography time into my day… as if I have an extra hour to spare. *hah*

I prefer to photograph via whim.

Do you schedule time to take photos or just shoot as the fancy hits you?

  1. I feel the same way, but I am trying not to stress. Occasionally I have been stretching a photo from the day before. In my mind as long as it is a separate photo session/attempt I count it. And I agree it is hard not to have your cute daughter as the main subject :)

  2. I try to shoot on the whim because it makes me happier. But you’re right, then all of my pics are of my preschooler. I also have a back-up list of “inspiration” shots in case I get stuck. You’re doing great. Love the socks at the Dr’s office. So fun.

    • I’ve seen other people mention they have lists they use to get their shots so they’re not all of the same thing. I may have to look at doing the same. Thanks Tami!

  3. Photograph what you love, right? ;) My daughter is usually my subject, too. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

    I’m going to start scheduling time at least once a week because I want to try some new techniques and if I’m not intentional about it, it rarely happens. Many of my shots are on the fly, which is okay because I want my 365 to be like a journal too, but I want to grow as a photographer as well.

    • I’m thinking about adding a theme each month, so that I can practice a specific technique as well. I’m just thinking it might be too much pressure and then I’ll psych myself out and stop doing the photos all together. Still contemplating…

  4. another great week! I love the first 2 images soo much! I’ve been shooting indoors all week! I have to admit that I almost never shoot indoors :) So i’m shooting everyday with things that imspire me! i thin k it’s hard to juggle everything in life and complete a 365…so make it as least stressful as you can :) can’t wait to see next weeks images

  5. i usually shoot on the whim too. i need to do better at scheduling it in my day. however, being a working mom makes that challenging! i love that your daughter is your subject most of the time…i’m guilty of that too!

    • I hear you working momma! I run a business on this end and sometimes I’m lucky just to get dinner on the table on time. My husband is very gracious… and patient. :)
