I’m 40. I don’t generally get hung up on numbers, but I’m 40. It’s been a week and I still can’t believe it.
I’ve spent the last week wondering how life went by so quickly that I missed it. And part of me wondered what ever happened to the plan I had for my life.
Thinking back on everything I wanted to be and do, I haven’t done half of what I dreamed… and honestly, not achieving goals can make a girl a little sad.
But my family wouldn’t let me be sad… not that they knew I was even feeling this way. Thank goodness for family!
So, my 40th went down something like this…
My best friend stopped by with Dutch Monkey Doughnuts, a sharing plate and gifts for my little girl… because you know if it’s anyone’s birthday, it’s her birthday as well.
The girl and I went out to do some shopping and she found this funny birthday cake hat for me to wear.
Then the hubby came home with a funny birthday card and…
Some yummy Hummingbird Cake. Oh how I love me some Hummingbird Cake…
And I purchased a canvas tote off Etsy as my birthday present.
It was a lovely day.
Back to my reflections…
While I’m not where I thought I would be 20 years ago, I know God’s plans are always better than our plans could ever hope to be. (Jeremiah 29:11)
As I looked around on my birthday, at the crazy mess around me (courtesy of my 2 year old), I found myself grateful for what I have. There is something in me always reminding me how much different life could be.
Time to own my 40… Happy Birthday to me!
